birthing class

Yesterday Alex and I attended our first unmedicated childbirth class at our hospital. I have to say that I really enjoyed it. The teacher seems really nice and knowledgeable. She's been doing this since the 70s, so she knows what she's talking about.

For our first class we did a lot of discussion of what our fears and expectations are for labor and delivery. It was really helpful to just get everything out there and have the teacher respond to each of these points. She also talked a lot about what exactly happens to our bodies during pregnancy and childbirth and what the first signs of labor are. I'm excited for the next few weeks when we discuss pain management, etc. I'm really happy Alex and I signed up for this class.

I'll let you know my review of the class once it's over!

I learned so much at our childbirth class. It's amazing what your body goes through and just to imagine that this is what it was made to do! It really put me more at ease and gave me a clearer picture of what to expect. They'll probably tell you about the rice filled sock to use as a heating pad thing. I loved that when I was in labor! You just microwave it and it stays hot a long time. They even kept microwaving it for me at the hospital!

I'm glad the course started. The breathing and exercising part of the class are critical too. Make sure to follow the instructions and do all of the exercises daily. You'll be fine. Love ya.
