In high school I think it's how my parents even got me to go. I now go to an alternative church that actually has original music. It put me off at first and now I sincerely adore it.

Ramblings of a Small Town GirlKaylahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00791493835243956758noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17932973.post-75169445931451700142010-07-13T22:05:56.168-06:002010-07-13T22:05:56.168-06:00You took a few faves of mine ("My name is gra...You took a few faves of mine ("My name is graven on His hands, My name is written on His heart" - Wow!) "For All the Saints" is a great one to me, too. I love how it imagines the celebration of all the saints coming into the New Heaven:

From Earth's wide bounds, from ocean's farthest coast,
Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host,
Singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost:
Alleluia, Alleluia!

What a great future to look forward to! When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works Thy hands have made.
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Refrain:
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Verse 2:
When through the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze:
(Repeat Refrain.)
Verse 3:
And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin:
(Repeat Refrain.)
Verse 4:
When Christ shall come with shouts of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!
(Repeat Refrain.)Kristanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17932973.post-50421374863668111102010-07-13T14:24:34.889-06:002010-07-13T14:24:34.889-06:00My absolute favorite hymn is How Great Thou Art. It was my husband's family's church--enough said.

But I have to admit that one of the most simple hymns, Blessed Assurance, will move me to tears in a heartbeat.

This is my story
This is my song
Praising my Savior
All the day long

BTW, I'm excited about The Summit in North Raleigh starting up this fall. I wanted to check The Summit out when we start visiting churches (in less than a month--wowza!), but we really don't want to drive to Durham. We want to stick around WF/N. Raleigh, so now The Summit is on our list! I know they're still preparing and working out details, but do you know where they meet this fall yet?Desireehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11983734059086703721noreply@blogger.com
